ERLAND CULLBERG (1931-2012) Born in Västerås, lived and worked in Sollentuna, Sweden. He studied at the Royal Academy of Arts, Stockholm (1955-1957), and at Valand Academy of Art, Gothenburg (1961).

During his life, Cullberg exhibited widely at, among others, Thielska Galleriet, Stockholm; Institut Suédois, Paris; Turku Art Museum, Finland; Moderna Museet, Stockholm; Malmö Konsthall; Göteborg konstmuseum; Aarhus Konstmuseum, Denmark; Uppsala domkyrka; Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts, Stockholm and galleries.

Cullberg’s works are in the permanent collections of Nationalmuseum, Stockholm; Moderna Museet, Stockholm; Swedish Parliament, Stockholm; Göteborgs konstmuseum; Borås Konstmuseum; Östergötlands museum, Linköping; Norrköpings konstmuseum; Västerås Konstmuseum; Turku Art Museum, Finland; Statens Museum for Kunst, Copenhagen, Denmark; Aarhus Konstmuseum, Denmark; Museum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte der Hansestadt, Lübeck, Germany, among others.

The art of Erland Cullberg has been the subject of a variey of interpretations, both in texts and in films. In 1980, artist Anders Widoff made a documentary on Cullberg, "Övermålaren" (The Overpainter). The documentary addressed Cullberg's near obsession with painting, his work, his method of painting and his schizophrenia.

In 2016 ”The Erland Cullberg Park” in Sollentuna, Sweden was inaugurated.

In 2019 the Cullberg Family established the Erland Cullberg Scholarship.
